Here is a final picture from the studio. Taken just before the band left the studio, it shows Helen, the studio assistant, Gil Norton, our producer, me and Adrian Busby, the engineer. The other picture shows an empty Wembly Arena prior to our show with New Order. Its more than similar to an aircraft hangar. Needless to say the acoustics weren't great, although New Order did play a massive 45min Joy Division set.....bye for now, Lukas.

char says:

Shouldn't awesome acoustics kinda be a prerequisite for wembley arena? mMaximo park, dont ever become an arena tour band. I feel strongly about this, not that I would want you to be unsuccessful but I just HATE birmingham NEC. Xx P.S. Aha! First comment!

8th Nov 2006, 00:18

ducky says:

Oooh nice, Lukas! I always love photos from the band's view....
....acoustics sounded alright from the front row...but its a massive arena! Agree with Char!! Your music is far more suited to smaller, more intimate gigs that make the place feel like its bursting with energy....uh yeah!

8th Nov 2006, 00:34

char says:

*test* sorry I just wanted to see if my name came up white!

8th Nov 2006, 00:39

clara says:

Like the first pic very much.Looks like a good team!
Agreed about the venue size-I went to Wembley years ago and the acoustics were substandard then.

8th Nov 2006, 10:09

clara says:

If you want to have your name come up white,Char, you should register on the Moblog page of this site.

8th Nov 2006, 10:11

char says:

I did...I hate the internet.

8th Nov 2006, 10:56

Bound says:

Char: Don't register! Be a rebel! X
Yep, Wembley's sound is poo, but never mind. I must be the biggest lame-o ever, as I still have my wristband from Wembley on...weird. I like Lukas the best at the moment, cos he's well good at fan-band relations. Go Lukas!

8th Nov 2006, 13:02

char says:

Lukas is better than Paul. Discuss.
I'd rather write 2500 words on this than my silly essay title. And the band thing isn't lame. I wore my Glasto 2005 band for 14 months and still have this years Reading one on. Xx

8th Nov 2006, 13:05

flowerpetal says:

Ohhhhhhhh, very controversial.

Nice one Char, I sit on the fence when it comes to the above discussion, but look forward to reading peoples comments!

8th Nov 2006, 13:36

char says:

Cue the backlash I feel...

8th Nov 2006, 13:37

outofvision says:

oooh char, i don't think i can discuss that :P and! i haven't met lukas yet :(

8th Nov 2006, 15:40

meimipop says:

haha Helen, from the disco lights bit of the studio video?

I don't think one is better than the other, I do like Paul best, but I'm not objective. I've never actually talked to Lukas.

8th Nov 2006, 15:52

clara says:

Neither have I.But I'm sure he has his charms in person..

8th Nov 2006, 17:54

Bound says:

Lukas is better than Paul at what? Canasta? Table tennis? Who knows? I've spoken more to Paul for about 30 seconds more than Lukas, but I can't say I've interacted with either enough to say...hmmm. I fancy Paul the most though (as if that weren't INCREDIBLY obvious form most of my preveious comments on here...)

8th Nov 2006, 18:05

Bound says:

Aw great, and now I've lost the abilty to spell. Hurrah. One day I'll log in...One day...

8th Nov 2006, 18:06

clara says:

Bound,Bound,pull yourself together,you're losing it!

8th Nov 2006, 18:18

clara says:

I guess Paul took that group photo on here.

8th Nov 2006, 18:23

Bound says:

Nah, he's busy...he's on a quest, like Lord of the Rings type shit. With swords and stuff. Totally.

8th Nov 2006, 18:31

clara says:

Er,Bound,are you sure?

8th Nov 2006, 18:40

Bound says:

No, but it would be really cool if he was, wouldn't it? Next diary entry would be like:
In between recording, gazing whistfully at sky and generally being awesome found time to slay dragon, and liberate the Elf people of Thrarkia.
Stay safe,
Paul and The Park

8th Nov 2006, 18:43

clara says:

Ooh,er.You sound bitter,m'dear.

8th Nov 2006, 18:44

Bound says:

Do you think? It wasn't really meant to...Oh dear. I don't want to be bitter...*worried*

8th Nov 2006, 18:45

Bound says:

It's just been so long since the last entry I've been making up uber exciting ones in my head. Not that the normal ones aren't uber exciting...Oh crap, now I sound mean. :(

8th Nov 2006, 18:46

char says:

I CANNOT believe you just mocked his little "stay safe" sign off. I'd be well upset if someone wrote that on my blog...if I were in a band *pouts* hehe, I kid as always, Xx P.S. "End of recording" had me tres excited! What comes next...?

8th Nov 2006, 18:55

clara says:

You're always very optimistic Char!
Hope something wonderful for us fans comes next....

8th Nov 2006, 19:00

clara says:

....I want to see The Culture Show with the Park on it- this month!!!

8th Nov 2006, 19:00

char says:

it IS on this month??? I thought there was some confusion about this? why aren't there more comments on this picture? this blog makes me paranoid. Xx

8th Nov 2006, 19:03

clara says:

I said on a previous thread on here that I asked the BBC2 film crew at Brixton when it was going to be on,and he said November on Saturdays. However on another thread Lukas tells us it will be on to coincide with the album release in the Spring.I guess Lukas must be correct.
Confirmation would be appreciated though.

8th Nov 2006, 19:06

Bound says:

@Char: I didn't mean to mock...I just like saying 'stay safe', is all. xxx Are you not in a band, then? Be in a band, it's fun...I think... But yes, end of recording...I just can't wait til the new album. I want to hibernate til then...:)

8th Nov 2006, 19:11

clara says:

Have you buried some nuts for hibernation then,Bound?

8th Nov 2006, 19:14

Bound says:

Hee hee. I just can't wait, y'know? But, I guess I'll have to. I'll just have to deal with the banality of day to day life sans Park. *sniff* :)

8th Nov 2006, 19:15

clara says:

Cue violins.....the winter can seem very long when there's no Park shows on the horizon. Can't they be interviewed on Newsnight or something?

8th Nov 2006, 19:17

Bound says:

Yeah...Oh, well, I guess I'll grudgingly allow them some time off. :D
It's gonna rock nuts though...I'm gonna have to save money for the inevitable gig-splurge when they tour the new record.

8th Nov 2006, 19:19

clara says:

Yes,it'll be all systems go early next year for that. The tension will have been unbelievable.

8th Nov 2006, 19:21

char says:

"banality"....good word! I am seeking to be in a band, but im away at uni now and my musical friends r all at home so itll have to wait. also, DONT put Paul on Newsnight. I just really couldn't cope. *frets* Xx

8th Nov 2006, 19:26

Bound says:

@Aw, Char, you are the living end! Whatcha doin' at uni, then?
And why couldn't you cope with Smitty on Newsnight?

8th Nov 2006, 19:30

char says:

Psychology. I think I'm gonna keep my reasons to myself tho...I don't wanna piss people off and I don't think it would be clear what I meant if I typed it on here. And NO it isn't perverse before anyone starts down that road. Xx

8th Nov 2006, 19:34

Bound says:

Fair dos. Also, I'd have to watch Newsnight AND stay awake. And I don't hold much hope of that happening... On a lighter note...what's your favourite of the new Park 'tunes', Char?

8th Nov 2006, 19:36

Bound says:

By putting tunes in inverted commas it kind of inferred I didn't think their new songs were actually tuneful in any way...Why do I keep inadvertently cussing the Park? WHHHYYYYY?

8th Nov 2006, 19:38

clara says:

Because you sound bitter,moi dear.

8th Nov 2006, 19:40

Bound says:

DUDE! ENOUGH WITH THE BITTER ALREADY! What do I have to be bitter about, anyway, pray tell? X

8th Nov 2006, 19:42

clara says:

OK OK keep your hair on!Twas me being a wind-up.I'm sorry, don't take me seriously.

8th Nov 2006, 19:45

Bound says:

Hee hee. You are quite the Merchant of Wind Up tonight, my dear. I think my PMT scared off Char...Ho hum.

8th Nov 2006, 19:46

clara says:

Ah,it's the dreaded PMT.
I understand.I think Char is not easily scared off here.Where's everybody else tonight?

8th Nov 2006, 19:51

char says:

Well *thinks* I think nosebleed. I love it, I just keep remembering that first chord from Birmingham when they played it. But then..."A fortnights time is class" That bit where he says "Would you like to go on a date with me?" Legendary. Well I mean obviously it doesn't read as very legendary but...IT IS! Xx

8th Nov 2006, 19:55

char says:

Cussing the park is fine on occasion. I don't like it when people can't say anything critical about their fave bands. Altho, I think actually saying that their music isnt tuneful is a tad too far...lol Xx

8th Nov 2006, 19:56

Bound says:

No, I get it, totallY! I personally never thought the words 'waterproof jacket' could sound so powerful...I love Monument the most. I screamed that line at him at Wembley. While Han punched me in the head. It was all good. And I guess that line in Fortnight's Time is rhetorical, right? I probably wasn't supposed to write to him saying 'Yes, I would'....:D

8th Nov 2006, 19:59

clara says:

Who the heck said that? They want their ears washing out.I LOVE "A Fortnight's Time".It is class, yes!

8th Nov 2006, 19:59

Bound says:

Dude! I didn't mean it! Pesky inverted commas...

8th Nov 2006, 19:59

clara says:

@Bound-so you have accepted a date with him, yes? But has he asked you?

8th Nov 2006, 20:00

Bound says:

*thinks* Yes! In..song...and there were other girls there too...Hmm. Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick...:)

8th Nov 2006, 20:01

clara says:

Oops Bound,don't give yourself away.
"I gave myself away
But yes I meant to give you warning"

Who sang that?

8th Nov 2006, 20:04

Bound says:

Ummm...Was it Leo Sayer? :P

8th Nov 2006, 20:04

clara says:

Of course! How could I have forgotten- he was a legend, that boy.

8th Nov 2006, 20:05

Bound says:

Hells yeah. :D

8th Nov 2006, 20:06

clara says:

I was,um,singing loudly to "Apply Some Pressure" at Brixton, thoroughly enjoyed myself.

8th Nov 2006, 20:08

Bound says:

Dude, you did the Hand-Dance, right? X

8th Nov 2006, 20:09

clara says:

Sort of.I was just carried away....

8th Nov 2006, 20:11

clara says:

Did you and Han throw those glowsticks onstage?

8th Nov 2006, 20:13

Bound says:

The cheek! No, we just threw abuse. Give us some credit. :D

8th Nov 2006, 20:20

clara says:

Abuse? What kind?if I may be so bold as to ask.

8th Nov 2006, 20:23

ducky says:

LMAO the head punching!!! All the N.O fans were like....what. the. hell. hahaha!!!

I keep getting the melody of nosebleed stuck in my head....awesome.

8th Nov 2006, 20:26

clara says:

Imagine you're on Newsnight and have to answer that question.

8th Nov 2006, 20:26

Bound says:

I just tried to out-emote Smith (folly, I discovered at my expense) and as Ducky said there was much head punching...I just love Nosebleed now its electrified, so to speak. Only I keep thinking the first chorus goes on longer than it does...

8th Nov 2006, 20:32

clara says:

@Bound-what happened when you tried to out-emote him, then?Did he spot you doing so?

8th Nov 2006, 20:35

Bound says:

Meh. Doubt it. Why would an adonis take note of a lowly peon such as I? *sob* And other such flowery twaddle. I spend far too much time at their shows trying to get the dude to notice me. Like, why would he? Next tour, I'm going to concentrate on just having a laff.

8th Nov 2006, 20:37

Bound says:

God, I DO sound bitter, don't I? :D

8th Nov 2006, 20:38

clara says:

Jolly good idea.

8th Nov 2006, 20:38

clara says:

Re:bitter-er,yes.

8th Nov 2006, 20:39

Bound says:

SHUT UP ALREADY! :D

8th Nov 2006, 20:39

clara says:

Ok ok ok....will do,will do.
If Paul's reading this,I guess he's saying to himself "what a load of tosh on here again"

8th Nov 2006, 20:42

Bound says:

Although, he probably doesn't have internet access, what with his being on a mystical quest, remember?

8th Nov 2006, 20:43

clara says:

Ah yes,I'd forgotten. The mystical quest.Let's hope he mentions that journey in his new diary.
Will you tell us about the journey please,Paul? We'd love to read about it.

8th Nov 2006, 20:44

ducky says:

Paul probably did notice two Maximo fans at the front, one in a headlock.... 'How violent'. lol!

Polly...do a pic of Paul lotr styleeeee hahaha

8th Nov 2006, 20:46

zag says:

stay safe....ahhhhh memories.

Head punching is always good. However, when the place is packed, I can also headbutt pretty well.

The sound at wembley was shite and we all know why.
Butttt there's a review on rocklouder if anyones interested (aye, I am just whoring my own work here...sooooo?)
HEAD PUNCHING!
Oh, if I ever get my band that'll be our first lp. 'head punching by han'. magic, no?

8th Nov 2006, 20:47

clara says:

Good God you're a violent young lass,Han...did you get my vinyl OK?

8th Nov 2006, 20:51

Bound says:

Umm...not yet.:D

8th Nov 2006, 20:59

Bound says:

I can't be trusted. But I'm holding out for my copy of Narc. :D

8th Nov 2006, 21:00

Bound says:

@Ducky: Hmmm..twould be fun. But there was enough uproar about the Pipettes one!

8th Nov 2006, 21:04

char says:

@zag; do u have a band then or, like me, are you caught up in the fantasy of sweaty glamour at several carling academys across the country?? In my dreams I am lead vocalist, naturally. Xx

8th Nov 2006, 21:12

clara says:

@Zag-just read your review-very good.I didn't realise Paul had trouble with his throat on the last tour.Hard-hitting journalism from you there!

8th Nov 2006, 21:17

clara says:

@Bound-can you send the vinyl onto Han?

8th Nov 2006, 21:20

Bound says:

No, I think I'll keep it. :P

8th Nov 2006, 21:21

clara says:

For why?I offered it as a kind gesture to Han.

8th Nov 2006, 21:24

char says:

quality review...did he really punch himself in the head? i think i missed that whole convo...boy ill bet his face was red. Xx

8th Nov 2006, 21:27

clara says:

I missed that too, maybe I was looking the other way.

8th Nov 2006, 21:29

clara says:

Or it could be something to do with the fact that I didn't go to Wembley...

8th Nov 2006, 21:30

char says:

aaah, sometimes i forget i wasnt there. God I was in a baaaad mood that night. Xx

8th Nov 2006, 21:32

clara says:

Well peeps I'll have to sign off now.I'm getting "computer eyes".
Night all!

Oh before I go.Bound-do me a favour and send the vinyl on.Ta!

8th Nov 2006, 21:34

Bound says:

My dearest Han, my sincere apologies for the delay in posting out the vinyl-y thingy...to you. XXXX

8th Nov 2006, 21:38

char says:

hello....r u from long ago? Xx

8th Nov 2006, 21:47

char says:

and what have you to say on your return? make it infinitely interesting Xx

8th Nov 2006, 21:50

char says:

lol, just kidding, i shall shut up..well, be quiet.

8th Nov 2006, 21:54

zag says:

Char - I live in a realm where I have almost a hundred songs written but I'm too fucking lazy to go into the studio and get them recorded. Plus I completely loath my old producer, but he's the only one offering to do it for freeee. One day, laze and money will not win...
And I'd be happy with the cluny. :)

9th Nov 2006, 16:57
