Looking down a speciality.
Teazleicious Diva-cat photos for the lazy at heart.
Now with added kitten.
Thank you. It's my favourite for a long time. Cropped from the spiders webs below if you like such things :)
Ooooh! Thank you for the highlight whoever that was.....the photo was worth kneeling in wet bracken in freezing mist :) It's a DSLR shot, not phonecam btw. Is that okay?
its still a great capture though!!!
and yes im sure the cold wet brakken was worth it.. in fact, i can see ti was.
i think Joe's to thank for the HL (well done joe)
I'm guessing so.... :)
And everyone else posts their "big camera" stuff...couldn't quite resist.
blimey, thats one of the loveliest images i've seen. something really compelling about it. nice one, OJ :)
Fantastic! I'm always looking for a nice wet cobweb to photo but never find one : (
Thanks all. Crickson, you want to try quite early on a very misty morning. Verging on freezing fog helps.
By the way, I should point out for the non-arachnaphobes, the architect was in residence. . Credit is due ;-)
Early?! In the morning?! Medically impossible for me I'm afraid.
Yeah, me too. By early, I mean before midday. :)
This was about 10am on a Saturday. The freezing fog coming across the fens between Norwich-Thetford-Ely this morning was something to behold. Eerie. This was pre-9am though, so no photos!
To use the Norfolk vernacular, "Bootiful!"
EDIT also reminds me of my fave VW quote re the "necklace of rememberable days"
:)
Although the spider might not understand, being a Yorkshire spider! And yes, your favourite quote....
By the way, Gael, do you remember any children's story/legend, perhaps quite a frightening one that involves people or anything else being turned into a necklace/trapped in beads??? It's been nudging at the edge of my brain for a couple of days and it's annoying me...
It was worth asking! I read a lot of books as a child, it's probably nothing classic.
you might have read an adaptation of Indian folktales of Kali... skull necklace
Thanks paintist - looks interesting, it might have fused in my mind with this....
A Necklace of Raindrops by Joan Aiken. It doesn't look very chilling in the extract but I'm sure something bad is about to happen.
Glad you found it, I was going to suggest you ask Helen - funnily enough I'm sure that Joan Aiken was one of her favourite authors ...
I will talk to Helen about it sometime then - or go skulking to the nearest children's library to re-read the rest of the story.
I came through Ely on the train this morning Euphro - from Norwich. There was much mist.
you are right OJ it does sound as if something interesting is going to happen.... I will have to look for it now...i am a sucker for myth and fairytales, this looks great :-)
Absolutely beautiful :-)
oh wow
I'd love to see the high res, when you're able could you possibly send it?
this has got to get a HL, surely..
ah, it already has!
Any chance you could send me a copy of the hi-res version? I'd love to use this as a wallpaper...
Hiya Dhamaka and UxB.
The high-res is on my laptop which is in the possession of teh wife this week, but I'll try to remember to send at the weekend.
Subject to CC license of course :)
ps. Did anyone spot that the title reference was to a Gorky's Zygotic Mynci song? Also highly recommended! I'm pushing Welsh culture right, left and centre this week.
You're welcome Dhamaka.
Ah yes this was a really beautiful shot - i've no idea why I haven't commented on it!
