My set top box has been dying of late (I got it when I got ONdigital - that's how old it is) so I decided to go and get myself a PVR this evening. It's rather groovy! I've been pausing TV all evening for no reason other than I can :)

We bought the second cheapest freeview box in the shop (they were sold out of the very cheapest).

£35 and seems to work really well!

My old box was a freebie. It was "on loan" from ONdigital and then ITV Digital when they came along.

When ITV Digital went bust, the administrators sent a letter asking if I wanted to buy it otherwise could they have it back. I sent them a letter telling them if they wanted it back they could come and get it (at their expense of course). I never heard from them again, so I kept the thing.

Mine's gone a bit odd lately, the channels work, but the tv guide information has disappeared and refuses to come back :-(

What make and model, and can it record two things at once (or record one thing while watching another)?

I'm thinking of buying one for the parents for Christmas.

It's a Matsui (cheapest dual tuner one from Currys). I can't remember the model number off the top of my head, but it's just over £100. You can record one channel and watch another, or record two channels at the same time. If you're recording two things at once, you can also watch anything you've already recorded at the same time as well.

Wow, they've come on a long way since I investigated last Christmas. Does it have the 14-day EPG?

archer says:

It has an EPG, but I think it's only 8 days.
