This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

"Never to get lost is not to live, not to know how to get lost brings you to destruction, and somewhere in the terra incognita in between lies a life of discovery."
........ Rebecca Solnit

"Give, give, give -- what is the point of having experience, knowledge or talent if I don't give it away? Of having stories if I don't tell them to others? Of having wealth if I don't share it? I don't intend to be cremated with any of it! It is in giving that I connect with others, with the world and with the divine."

"The grand show is enternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapour is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."
........ John Muir

"The bicycle is the most civilised conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart."
........ Iris Murdoch

"Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your picture...."

On today's ride the weather was great,
but my shades showed another story...
9th Oct 2006, 17:52   | tags:,,,,

OJ says:

Did you photograph the skies through your shades then? Good for upping the contrast....

They're good and dramatic those skies, if a little threatening.

9th Oct 2006, 17:56

Dhamaka says:

Yes I did
Thank you!
Got the drama, but I'm disappointed that the rays didn't show up more. Wish I knew how to photoshop them back...

9th Oct 2006, 17:58

OJ says:

The rays do show up and I like them without Photoshopping.

I love number two for the hints of pastel (lilac, yellow, brown) and the penultimate one for menace.

[soapbox]

It's a general point but now that so much image editing software is out there, I tend to think it's more interesting in some ways to ignore it and to play with ambient conditions. See what you can make with composition and light, rather than an "ideal" image.

[/soapbox]

Dhamaka says:

I know what you mean. I'm always trying to improve my photography for my work. I think what that means is taking the best possible picture with the composition and light and then knowing how to play with it afterwards.

I think my photography is slowly improving (really missing my old dslr nowadays) but my photo manipulation skills are sadly lacking and I don't really have the time to work on them either

Sprocket says:

Love the visible rays in nos 2 and 3.

Isn't no 4 the closing shot from ET?? Or something sc-fi'ish with a ship zooming into the clouds.

9th Oct 2006, 18:09

Dhamaka says:

thanks OJ and Sprocket for seeing the rays, but they're not what was in my mind's eye when I took the shots

9th Oct 2006, 18:11

Caine says:

Beautiful shots. I really like the second and fifth shots.

9th Oct 2006, 18:33

Dhamaka says:

thanks Caine

9th Oct 2006, 18:46

paintist says:

yep its the second one for me too....and number 4 has some powerful rays coming from the clouds too....

9th Oct 2006, 18:50

Dhamaka says:

thank you too, paintist

Love pic 2 it's so surreal with all the colors.

Dhamaka says:

These are great riding glasses. They come with three sets of lenses - dark, orange and transparent and the world looks so different through the dark and orange ones.
