Dogs. Fiber Arts. Occasional Cats, Trolleys & Trains & Flowers. And other moments from my life that I find interesting.
**Motorola ic902 - Probably the best of the (poor) choices with Nextel for a camera phone.
**Canon Powershot A430 - Oh, how I love thee, let me count the ways....Primary camera - if it a good photo, this took it.

LYS, for those who don't knit, is Local Yarn Store. I had no plans to go anywhere this weekend but when I woke up this morning we were without electricity, and after waiting for 2.5 hours unable to read, knit, compute, or any of my usual "take it easy" activities I couldn't take it any more and had to get out. So I went to the LYS, where I heard that the entire town went out at about 7 AM and which most of it was back but I live in one of the neighborhoods that they were still hunting down problems in.

Anyway, on to the yarny goodness - no, I didn't escape with my checking account intact, of course not :-).
1. The yarn, I bought three kinds, the gray ones are intended for a scarf wherein I shall get my utter LOTR geekness on poncho for me, and a scarf and maybe mittens and a hat for Don, I think. I'm holding off on the Pippin scarf until I find the exact right colors, which these aren't.. The little ball of blue is a 100% bamboo yarn, which I bought just to play with basically - the idea of a bamboo yarn fascinated me. I may make myself a little toque or something with it. Sorry the pic is so dark, I just lost a light bulb in here and I am too short to change it - it'll have to wait for DH to come home (Tuesday). I'll try to get a better pic there tomorrow.
2. This is a close up of the variegated grey-blue/tan/purple yarn, it is Reynolds Odyssey. The other grey yarn is a Cascade 220 . They should go together very well. I hope.
3. Couple of Clover bamboo circulars, just to fool around and practice with. I ordered a set of Denise interchangeables too.
4. While there I saw a little display of beaded stitch markers made by a local person, and did the smart thing, decided I should at some point haul out the beads and make my own. That some point came tonight while watching TV - I was a bit knitted out after much frogging of my first fair isle project. I made 8 for now - I need to get some bigger slip rings, these will only fit up to a size 5 (3.75mm) needle.
5. These are what I'd been using for stitch markers - utter uselessness. Now in the recycle bin.

Those are the same little split ring stitch markers I have, and holy crap I *covet* your dangly markers.

If you're like me you will loooooove the interchangeable needles. I looooooooove mine and I don't even use my regular straights now.

I need to get some longer fine-guage (to fit through Delicas) headpins and make a bunch more.

Which set did you get? I looked closely at the Plymouth bamboo set and did a lot of hemming and hawing before I settled on the Denise set - my hands just seem to like plastic needles. I di need to get some smaller circulars too - the smallest Denise heads are a size 5.

pretty pretty things! I need some nice stitch markers but I'm too lazy to make my own or go out and get some.
