i now have a FLICKR page too!

"why would a reviewer make the point of saying someone's *not* a genius? do you especially think i'm *not* a genius? you didn't even have to think about it, did you?"

"monkeys are superior to men in this: when a monkey looks into a mirror, he sees a monkey.”

"i am secretly afraid of animals.... i think it is because of the usness in their eyes, with the underlying not-usness which belies it, and is so tragic a reminder of the lost age when we human beings branched off and left them: left them to eternal inarticulateness and slavery. why? their eyes seem to ask us."

"we've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of shakespeare. thanks to the internet, we now know this is not true..."

african monkey proverb: "the day the monkey is destined to die, all the trees get slippery."

"i'll buy a bunch of monkeys, dress them up, and make them re-enact the civil war"

- last night it was finally cold enough to wear my favourite scarf.

i've had it for about three and a half years, and am dismayed to now see gaggles of teenage peaches-geldof-wannabes sporting them.

i am forging on, regardless

James says:

I have (and have head for years) a similar scarf..is it like the one Yasser Arafat used to wear on his head?

Mine is, and it's ace. Although my girlfriend has currently swiped it!

*Needs to remember to buy a winter coat.

4th Oct 2006, 10:55

james - its exactly like that...

properly, its called a shmagh, but according to wiki it has many names...

4th Oct 2006, 11:01

I used to have a shemagh, we had to use it as bandage when my mate broke his arm after falling off a lighting truss...

I never got it back.

4th Oct 2006, 11:09

and james - don't let her use it! she'll turn into peaches geldof!

SFG - thats a shame. still, its a vaguely heroic story!

4th Oct 2006, 11:10

Yeah it might have been m_f but none the less, some bastard still has my scarf. I don't think I will ever get one as nice or as lived in :(

This all happened about 10 years ago and you have brought the memories flooding back Bwaaaaawwwwwwwwww!

4th Oct 2006, 11:14

dear me... just read the full wiki article, and they're accusing me of being a hipster!

i'd like to point out that i am both interested in, and aware of, both the cultural and military applications of the shmagh...
