Well, as a first sweater, it works - it's not unraveling, at least. The
pattern called for worsted and I used DK so I had to do a lot of number
fudging to get it something near his size and it does fit - and it's
supposed to be tight, he walks out of loose sweaters. I plan to get
some nice worsted now and make him a warmer outdoor sweater - this one
is for cruising around this old drafty house all winter.

A few years ago I crocheted a similar garment with absolutely no clue of what I was doing - it ended up being Jenny's sweater for the the very coldest days because it was far, far too big for him. So just having this one actually fit the dog it was intended for is good :-).

I use a sweater on my two....especiallly on the winter walks...they are so low to the ground they get wet and cold tummies, Bandit must feel very comfy in his new jummie :-)

Yeah, and I'll bet Beezer and Dido have a whole lot more fur than Bandit does on his undercarriage - he's got the typical skin problems of an older, not well bred dachshund, baldness and intermittent eczema (but not Acanthosis Nigricans, thank goodness). Keeping him warm and dry is important - thus his ever expanding wardrobe which is really going to expand now. He's likely to be my guinea pig for new knitting techniques :-)

That you Kozika San, that is a lovely thing to say :-). Thank you everyone for the compliments on Bandit's new threads - which have seen a lot of use this week, it's gotten quite cold at night here.

Anyone know a good site to buy dachshund sweaters from?

silar31 says:

Amber, a couple of good ones are Dachshund Delights at href="" target="_blank"> and Houndz In The Hood at Neither are really sweaters, per se, DD carries little coats, and HITH carries a bunch of different things, coats, bodysuits, etc.
