It is a really good series, which started off as a trilogy but became at least 5 books :-)

it's ages since I read Job. Did you like it? Has it aged?

I read all of them a long, long time ago. Enjoyable, easy reads; a slight wiff of the Young Adults section in the library about them though ...

i'm guessing you've already read Stephen Donaldson and Julian May?
and I just ended up flicking through the Second Amtrak Book - he seems to be describing texting using a mobile phone/palm in 1985 ...

names sound familiar, but will look at bookshelf when i get home. i'm better with book titles than authors sometimes.

Gael says:

Donaldson is the Thomas Covenant series (Lord Foul's Bane, etc) Julian May is the Saga of the Exiles, the Many Colored Land, etc

titles don't ring a bell so they shall go on the reading list. i wasn't raised on sci-fi books so as am adult i'm still finding classic sci-fi books to read that i've never heard of.

Donaldson is one of my fave authors. All his characters are seriously messed up. I loved 'The Gap' series (his stint into sci-fi), and the Thomas Covenant saga is awesome. I haven't had a chance to read the new Covenant book though.
