mmmmm, usable. Mezzo Desktop is pretty ace. I'd certainly welcome more computers working this way.

Sir Findo Gask says:

I'm going to download a linux OS and install it on one of the machines in the top secret data bunker....

Any advice on which is best?

Sheep - please don't use language like "Vista" or "Aero" in my presence again. Disgusting. There is nothing windows-like about Mezzo.. (actually, if you're interested in HCI design, google for the "mezzo graypaper" and check it out - Jason Spisak has some interesting things to say - Fitt was right!)

James - it came on the LiveCD, it's not mine to share I'm afraid.

SFG - Ubuntu, no question.

Cool. How well does it actually work? Does the theory translate into practice? Would you install it on your Mum's computer?

mat says:

Well, but not brilliantly. Still a beta, to be fair - it's obviously unfinished.

Yes, mostly. Some t's to cross and i's to dot.

Not yet. But then my Mum is an IT administrator. :)

I taught her everything she knows. Wasn't that long ago that we had the "a floppy disk is like a folder, a hard disk is like a filing cabinet" conversation, now she manages all the IT at her school (and these days, that's a lot: interactive whiteboards, wifi, bluetooth printers, remote SAN etc, etc.)

I'm very proud of my Mum.
