Rhys says:

That takes the bloody piss. It will take then a couple of days to fix it, whilst they have all there coffee breaks.

Dhamaka says:

Typical
Great that you got home early, but suffering because private companies didn't bother to reinvest in a Victorian infrastructure till it was too late really gets my goat

Doesn't it? Makes me crazy that we only ever do crisis management and never actually anticipate things like this and move forward on fixing them.

26th Jul 2006, 18:39

Dhamaka says:

That's not just crisis management, it's a cynical manipulation of public funding to get extra fees and emergency funds for things that should have been maintained as a matter of course

*bites tongue, rant over

Twiglet says:

I heard some Thames Water spokesman on the news recently saying "you must understand our water system is 150 years old..." It made me scream at the radio "then you've had 150 years to bloody well fix it then haven't you...w*nker.."

If it makes y'all feel any better, they're just as bad over here, where the MO is to fix just enough of the ancient iron pipes to take care of the problem and the heck with the rest of it until the problem reappears 100 ft down the pipe.
