The main bloke at mission hill likes his wines. This is collection of
+1000 year old wines. They probably haven't aged too well, but
impressive nonetheless.

Geodyne says:

Impressive indeed - fascinating to see how the bottles have changed through the ages. I'd hesitate at trying one though!

What's the optimum age for a wine? I understood they got better as they aged but I guess 1000 years is quite a long time.

Yeah, I think the 3000 year old Egyption wine is probably past its best.

D> yup. They're normally kept in complete darkness.

Crickson> I'm no expert, but I seem to remember them saying it depends on the grape, but actually red wines start to loose a bit of flavour after more than 5 years (if it's a particularly good vintage though, it may be worth saving longer for a rainy day, even if it looses some of its taste). I don't think white wine keeps as well as red, but I'd already had quite a few free samples by then, so wasn't listening too much.

That's interesting actually, I was once told 2000 was a particularly good year for wine - I guess I should rush out and get some now before it goes off!
