Thank you :) (It was interesting to listen to the camera actively keeping focus on these while they moved about in the breeze)

I read Iron Sunrise this afternoon. Found the first 1/4 of it really difficult to get into, but enjoyed the rest - either I got used to the clunky writing style or it smoothed out. Maybe I'm missing something, but I didn't find any particularly different or visionary futures..

I'm interested to hear your experience of the book. I just thought it was a lot of fun, not particularly visionary (in fact Stross uses the device of the Eschaton to prevent too much technological advance). Accelerando is the one that really thinks about where technology might lead us :)

Sorry, I'm very tired today. Iron Sunrise is the weakest of the three books I mentioned. I was actually thinking about Singularity Sky when I wrote my previous comment. If you persevere then you are in for more entertaining and interesting reads than the one you've just had :)

Thanks Euphro - For the first bit I was thinking about giving up, then suddenly the story gripped me and time flew and I really enjoyed it. I won't buy Singularity Sky until I've finished a couple of commissions (too tempting) and they're waiting for a reprint of Accelerando which they expect at the end of the month.
