I thought the British had gone over the top on 19th century station design
but the french... what can you say but "Oh la la" when faced with this? Am
told it has national monument status or similar & I'm not even slightly
surprised. (If I'd known my little phone could pick up this much detail, I'd
have done the other 3 figures too.)

It's bonkers, isn't it? First time I saw it was arriving by taxi from teeny tiny L airport & there was that mammoth dome. At first I assumed it was a cathedral, then I got the scale from the railway lines. Bless the french & their grands projets.
