1. Flags

2. The entrance to Chinatown, East Pender St.

3. Kendo match (I think China-Japan relations are not so bad over here),

4. Man in ermmm... painful-looking position in a window frame!

Nice photo! So you are still alive then?

Cheers for the highlight!

Kim> Thing have been crazy this week; I've not really had the chance to email anyone, or comment on here.

Dhamaka> It was a microphone! The local Chinese news channel was interviewing all sorts of weirdos like this one. I don't think he was part of the parade; just some weird guy on a windowsill.

Wow! That comes around once every 60(ish?) years doesn't it?

From what I recall it's meant to be very unlucky; I think in Chinese history, most babies born under that sign were drowned by their parents. I guess that means Firehorses are all the rarer!

I guess I slipped through the net!

Apparently the few remaining weren't registered (birth rate dropped by half a million or something in 1966)

More reason to celebrate the big 4 0 this year!

And Helen is worried about being 26 ... tsk : )

Oooo... are you having a big birthday party?

Apparently in addition to the 12 Chinese zodiac signs, there are 5 element signs; fire, wood, metal, earth and water, which cycle each year too, as well as the yin and yang. Lisa tells me I'm an "earth horse". Who knew?
