Mine is 8 letters but you can make out 1 and then a squiggle

my entire name is only 9 letters, and my signature is just my initial and surname, which is only 6, although it just looks like a rubbish squiggle.

I'd go with the 4th one down. Although it does look a bit like "J mum"

Her new initials will be JEM, so it could be along those kind of lines :)

to solve the new signature problem she could keep her surname. Or you could both just choose a new name to share and then you could develop new signatures together.

We've chatted at GREAT length about the name issue... finally agreed she'd take my name, which makes me really happy...

There's no chance of me giving up my current name, as there really are none others outside my family and I'm fiercely proud of it... much to the dismay of many! I know it sounds a bit arrogant, and the usual standpoint of "Would you give it up if it was the other way around?" and I can honestly say yes I would.

As for keeping her old name, we wanted to be the start of a new family, one identity. Also, I'd be rather offended if convenience was the reason for keeping a name rather than anything else :)
