My Pet Hate: is TUESDAY, everything that has ever gone wrong in my life has happened on a TUESDAY! I hate it, it's now my day off so that i don't have to face the world! Don't make me have to suffer TUESDAY by asking me about it!!! I also dislike girls who drink pints, smoke and generally act like men!!

A Young man was today undergoing emergency surgery after an attempted murder in Aberdeen city centre.

The 23-year-old victim was stabbed in the chest - then left lying in a pool of blood by his attacker.

It was thought he had been on a night out in the city centre before he was attacked.

He was found bleeding in the street by a member of the public at 2.30am today.

The man _ who hasn't been named _ suffered "potentially life threatening" injuries in the attack.

Detectives said he underwent emergency surgery for chest and abdominal injuries.

Det Insp John Swanney said a knife was thought to have been used in the assault in Castle Street.

He said: "We are treating the incident as attempted murder.

"Because of the seriousness of the man's injuries we have not yet been able to speak to him to find out what happened to him.

"It may, indeed, be several days before he is fit to be interviewed."

DI Swanney said officers were trying to piece together the victim's movements before the incident.

He added: "It is vitally important that we discover what happened to this man.

"We need to establish his movements prior to his arrival in Castle Street.

"He may well have been in one or more pubs in the harbour area and we are anxious to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen him either on Wednesday night or the early hours of today.

"We also wish to hear from residents in the area who may have seen or heard anything suspicious around the same time. "

The victim is 5ft 7ins, with short dark hair. He was wearing a brown shirt, pinstripe trousers and brown shoes.

He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

Police cordoned off sections of Hanover Street and Castle Street from its junction with Commerce Street to Cotton Street and behind the Crow's Nest pub.

The road was closed with officers asking people to avoid the area.

Police were today examining the scene and carrying out door-to-door inquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Castle Street or Miller Street areas to contact them.

Anyone with information can call Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
