Excuse me, is your car roof supposed to be... concave?!

A load of snow from my grandparents' roof dropped on my car today.
Insurance claim is already filed. :(

Definitely NOT what I needed this weekend. Was planning on taking the car
back to Mainz tomorrow. And I *JUST* got it back from the garage, too. :((

Euphro says:

Oh no! That's terrible! You have my sympathy. Your poor car has had more than its fair share of misfortunes. I'm amazed that there was that much snow left too.

daz says:

Yes, it's definitely bad. :(

We're getting an estimate tomorrow, my dad thinks it MIGHT be constructive total loss because the roof is clearly fucked and the hood has some mean dents too. :(

So, I'm not driving back to Mainz tonight I guess.

Euphro says:

Yeah, I suppose if the body is distorted enough it might mean it has to be written off :(

Mr Bmal says:

isnt it classed as an act of god?

daz, not logged in, says:

Euphro: The frame is, amazingly enough, not distorted at all. But the question is how difficult it'll be to replace the roof... The roof clearly has to be replaced, though. It's all bendy like an old can. :(

Bmal: Nope, it's definitely not an act of god since the house owners failed to install some kind of "roof avalanche protection" (usually a metal bar - apparently the company that re-did the roof a few years ago told them they didn't need one, which is bullshit). I mean, someone could have been standing in that spot... In any case, it's insured, and all should be well.

I'm just hoping the estimate for the repair won't be higher than the car's value. :(
