Elephant Attack!
Park, Thailand. Quite understandably it got angry and, having knocked
Diane off her bike and stepping on her shoulder, it charged the rest
of us down the road trampling and scattering any bicycles that lay in
its way. Typically Roy was the last to leave ;-)

wow. not sure if i'd call it "news gathering", but, very cool you had a camera on hand.
makes me think a little about the decline of oral story-telling, though. there won't be any " You should have seen the thing it was as big as a house!" stories if you actually have pictures ; )
either way, though, awesome. (hope your friend's shoulder was alright)

Amazingly she was almost unhurt - straight back on her bike and cycled to the next rest stop!! Hang on... got another pic here somewhere.....

You could send it in to ohmynews.com with the story - its completely relevant local news, and one of the few times that the possibility for so called "citizen journalism" has any credibility.

It's one of the few times I've really felt like I was running for my life. Elephants go much faster than you think and the sound of their angry growling and trumpetting is scarily gutteral in a Tyranosaurus Rex kind of a way..! Fortunately new pants are easy to come by in Thailand.

Yeah ... its funny how people think some very dangerous wild animals (elephants, hippos, lions, tigers, gorillas..) are really cute and lovely. I blame the cuddly toy market myself :)

any nightmares or fear of elephant(s) while cycling? curious what may go through one's head after an incident like that. i hope your friend is okay too.

lol at the buckled wheels all over the road! Hope all was ok though! It seemed everyone who was in Thailand whilst I was there got damaged in some way! A good quishing by an elephant is slightly more trendy in my estimation though! :D Some of ours include coming off a scooter in a pot-hole, coming off a scooter from a head on crash with another scooter and fracturing ones leg after falling from the cliff whilst playing football during a rave. BUT WERE NOT STRANGE! lol - Oh yeah, not forgetting stabbing myself in the face with a spike in a restaurant! :)
