Portuguese bugs

(viewed 853 times)
As soon as we arrived in Portugal we realised we had to quickly adjust
to having lots of unusual bugs around. Even though it could be quite
loud, I quite liked the sound of the crickets around us rubbing their
wings together. So I decided to put a 'bug file' together
(unfortunately no crickets though). Here's what I found. Hope you like
the pics. There's a toad; the ants are taking one of our leftover
baked beans home for tea; a beautiful red dragon fly; and the huge
beetle stayed guarding our front gate most of the day!

As you may have seen already in Tim Atkins' moblog we're having a great time here in Portugal. Jenny's parents, Alan and Hester, have been great hosts (Rach and I, and some of the others have been staying over the road in another villa).

We've been in the pool everyday, playing volleyball, lilo wars (see Tim's blog), and observing Daniel learn to swim (he's doing very well). I've had a bit of golf practice - possibly ready for a proper (hah!) game next week. I even swam in the sea - those shivers may look fake, but believe me, it was cold!

All in all, we're having a fab time and really enjoying relaxing in the sun.

Michelle's Birthday

(viewed 551 times)
We had a great time at Andy and Michelle's house last night for Michelle's ??th birthday. Their garden is made for lawn darts - that gives hours of fun! It was also really good to see Doc Steve Badger from AOG University America. He's always good fun to have around, and his wealth of knowledge aside, always makes you feel good about yourself. I think you call it an infectious joy of the Lord.

United Live @ Hillsongs Church London

(viewed 1568 times)
This Sunday Nathan, Tim Peel and I travelled all the way to the
Dominion Theatre in London to see an amazing worship band from Aussie
called United Live. It was hosted by Hillsongs Church London who hold
their Sunday meetings at the theatre. As you can see by one of the
pictures, when Hillsongs are not using the venue 'We Will Rock You' is
showing. It was incredibly surreal to be welcomed to church by a
massive statue of Freddie Mercury.

The worship and music was top class and had us jumping and going crazy
for most of the songs. To top it off, Phil Dooley, the Youth Pastor
from Hillsongs, Sydney, was preaching and he was really good - talked
about standing united together.

Saturday at the Wests'

(viewed 720 times)
We enjoyed Friday night and Saturday with my sister and family. I was
on that trampoline with Rory and Dom quite a lot as Dom was persistent
in asking "Andrew, will you come on the trampoline with me?" Needless
to say, Rach and I were shattered by the end of the day!

We had a delicious breakfast of American Pancakes with syrup round the garden table which Julie had made. The Summer weather is here! Hope it's staying for a while!

Thanks, Julie and David, for a lovely day.
