so people got in and were like kids, pushing the siren button, getting on the microphone, flashing the lights. And when the battery ran out, they torched them. So far, I think 6 police cars have been burned. In Montreal in 2008, in a hockey riot, they burned 16 cars. And it wasn't even a g20.

just try talking to a guy in full riot gear. He can't talk anyway because he's got his gas mask on.

for factotum. I have to say of all the riot police, they get the award for being the worst or the nicest. When people approached them with their really bad French, trying hard, they smiled. Smiling riot police is a no no.

Banksy was in Toronto and left us with a few gifts. This rat is probably the smallest. It is on Phoebe Street, just off Spadina, in Chinatown. Today when all hell was breaking loose, the rat was there, right around the corner. I kept thinking of Banksy's guy with the bandana over his mouth, throwing flowers, because there were a lot of covered faces. But no flowers.

I am ashamed of my country. A billion dollars could change lives, give people independence and self-respect. No matter what happens, at least prime minister Harper will never be re-elected--the wrath of average Canadians is so great. Toronto has been changed into a fortress, a horrible place. I hope no one gets hurt.
It's important to keep an eye on the good things. Oscar and I spent time at
Dufferin Grove Park, with our friends Elliot, Solomon and Livia. Dufferin Grove is just the best park in the city, and the magic there should be spread downtown.
