The Children's Storefront opened today for the first time since the old one burned down. Everything is new because we lost it all in a fire Oct 09. This place is special. It saved my sanity as a mother years ago, and continues to do the same for new parents today. It opened today and that is because hundreds of people worked very hard. Sorry to report that no adults are allowed to borrow things from the dressup bins. Not even the Batman stuff.

When the storefront burned down, we lost everything--treasured books, toys, all of it. While it was being rebuilt, we worked hard to find replacements, and once we could move in, we had to go get things stored all over Toronto.

and we now know all about regulations, city inspections, licenses, bureaucracy, and COLOUR. Old people think the phone calls Moscow.

This is a kickass butterfly. The Monarch. All of them east of the Rockies go to Michoacan in Mexico, for the winter. That's a long way from here. They stay until early March when they come home. The Monarch who comes back to my yard is not the one that left. It is the third generation of Monarch and just how did that little Monarch brain figure that one out? Not only do they go to Mexico, they hang out in the heart of drug cartel country, but they are just fine. Mostly they hang comatose on the pine trees until it's time to come home.
last summer keeps me and my hard drive warm.
this is white whorled milkweed. it smells really good.
I had Frizzle and her colleague, Grover, for the holidays. They are both supposed to graduate as vision dogs in February. Grover is the size of a small horse and likes to eat one glove out of every pair. Four pairs so far.
