Dogs. Fiber Arts. Occasional Cats, Trolleys & Trains & Flowers. And other moments from my life that I find interesting.
**Motorola ic902 - Probably the best of the (poor) choices with Nextel for a camera phone.
**Canon Powershot A430 - Oh, how I love thee, let me count the ways....Primary camera - if it a good photo, this took it.

Belated Xmas gifties

(viewed 1748 times)
From DH, who is not a gamer and did not realize the DS would be damned near impossible to find between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Isn't it pretty? Mad props to bro-in-law Tim who made note of all of 2 being stocked while at the store and grabbed one while the grabbing was good. WiFi is all good, so if you got ACWW and want to make friends, give me a shout, the contact user linky works.

My Xbox (which seems to want to check itself out of reality anyway) will miss me, I'm sure :-)

Belated wishes

(viewed 1153 times)
After spending the whole weekend wrestling spreadsheets on a deadline* (which I am hoping is a good omen for finding a better job in 2007) with short sanity breaks to work out a new CSS, I finally have a chance to wish everyone here at moblogUK a Happy New Year!

* - I won. Better omen. :-)

JennyB and Bandit, and DH and I, would like to wish all of our friends
of MoblogUK peace, joy, love, and Happy Holidays! :-)

Chowyunsmut's house burned :-(

(viewed 949 times)
Last night, on the morning of 12/21, moblogger chowyunsmut's house
burned down, and she lost everything - even her wallet was still
inside. She got out OK, as did her housemates and the kitties, but all
they have is the clothes that were on their backs. See the news story here (clicky). Go here to make
a donation.
I know this is a tight time of year for everyone but any
little bit counts.

Christmas shopping with an extra treat

(viewed 1246 times)
Went and finished up most of the Christmas shopping tonight. Our new
little nephew, who is 4, loves construction trucks and he loves trains.
What could be better than a train with construction trucks, I ask you?
We also got him the "Cars" DVD and a couple of the little motorized cars
from that. It's the little guys first real Christmas so he's getting
very spoiled, which is as it should be if you ask me. Then, we had to
stop at the grocery store for stuff for DH's work Christmas party
tomorrow. We went to a different store than usual, and they had real,
genuine Product of Japan Pocky. I had a squee moment. And I bought
some :-)

The Rock Star comes north :-)

The show was fantastic! The crowd was kind of on the thin side but that didn't seem to slow Chris and his mates down any. They did my favorites from "Safely Through The Night", a couple of new ones I hadn't heard before, and just generally rocked the joint. I'm a complete newbie to low-light, no flash photography, so most of the pics I took were of indistinct blobs, but I got a few semi-ok ones:

1. Get DOWN, boy! Yeah! I think this was during "The Ants", which is a big favorite of mine and now DH's, too.
2. Chris belting it out on "April", which pretty much brought the house down.
3. John Montagna on bass - very awesome.
4. Another pic of the aliens trying to abduct Chris - this seems to be a theme. Or, possibly what happens when you try to take a pic while doing the footybumwigglysitdown dance to "Fleet Footed Dan" while trying to take pictures. You decide.
5. Stew Cutler kicking his usual ass on lead - Stew hung out and also took names with James Montgomery after Chris's set was done. I was much with the happy :-).

Unfortunately I couldn't get any of Graham Hawthorne, the drummer, without being really obnoxious and standing up in other people's way - which would have been so very uncool. Next time. And there will be a next time. NYC ain't that far away! ;-)

ETA: Here is the film - was a bit too big for here, so I YouTubed it.

My Christmas present...

(viewed 1237 times)
...from me to me. Chris Orbach tickets for Saturday for DH and me. It's going to be a LONG week waiting :-)

Early AM Sunday ETA: Really knackered, but it was an excellent show and I got pics to post tomorrow of the Rock Star himself. Off to wash the phiz and hit the bed now. See ya on the flip side......

Old skool

(viewed 1116 times)
I spent most of the weekend playing with this - I found it in a $10
clearance rack at the grocery store, of all places, on Friday. I woke
up Friday morning with one knee in fairly excruciating pain for no
reason whatsoever, so I knew the weekend was going to be couch-heavy.
But I needed food, and I wanted to get something to watch, but didn't
find any movies that seemed appealing (I did discover that grocery
shopping with a cane sucks). I did find this though, and I am much with
the happiness about it. The question of can I still kick ass at the
arcade version of Millipede has been answered. Some 20 years later, I
am still the Queen of Millipede. And, I finally have a two-player game
DH will play with me. Pong. He's REAL Old Skool :-)
