Attic treasures...

(viewed 957 times)
For those following the moving saga, one of the "treasures" we found in
the attic. This is just part of the video, the whole edited thing is at
YouTube. Oh, and
yeah, I was sitting on the couch - the living room is really
that small. And the "treasure" is long gone to the electronics
recycling place.

Mount Trashmore

(viewed 921 times)
AKA Rubbish Hill. 16 jumbo heavy-duty trashbags to the curb this
morning, plus the big green bin was full but they didn't take it -
apparently it was too heavy to lift. We'll have to divide the load for
next week. The attic is empty. Both upstairs closets, the bedroom, and
living room are cleaned/decluttered. This is progress.

The things you find......

(viewed 921 times)
....after living in one place for 12 years! Yeah, we likes us some
Muppets, but we had both completely forgotten we had this! We reached
our goal for the week of having the attic completely empty 1 day early,
even though yesterday was a wash as I had an endoscopy in the morning
and spent the rest of the day sleeping! Some few of you who have known
me since the last one 4 years ago might recall how horrible that one was
- they screwed up the anaesthesia and I was wide awake for the whole
thing. Which is why it's taken 4 years for me to get up the nerve to
have another, although I am supposed to get them yearly. Well, this
time I had a competent GI doc with a wonderful staff at a facility that
only treats GI problems, so the whole thing was cake - the only
discomfort was having the IV inserted. I even have pictures from it, but
I will refrain from blogging them and spare the easily squicked :-)

Should have borrowed the truck....

From DH's dad - we went to Home Depot after some wood to finish the
bathroom shelves, and hardware for the bed modifications (see a few
posts back), and to just look at ladders and see how much a new one was
going to cost. We had no intention of buying one. But we discovered
that they had a better selection and better prices than the local
WalMart, and were on sale - but only until tomorrow. Kind of a
no-brainer. Fortunately the store sees this happen a lot and gave Don
some twine so we tied the trunk lid mostly shut and headed home with the
new ladder :-). Good thing we took my car though and not the (much
smaller) Kia!

Hopefully the last of the snow

(viewed 1053 times)
Saturday night we got about an inch. First fall we had this season
where we got this pretty tree effect - all other snowfalls have been too
darned windy!

We cleaned the closets out Saturday..

(viewed 817 times)
and completely trashed the bedroom doing it! 15 boxes to the storage,
and I lost count of how many trash bags we filled. Sunday was more
bedroom and living room packing & cleaning, and while we had the bedroom
empty DH tore the bed down and made the GERD modifications my gastro doc
wanted us to do - now the head of the bed is elevated on 3 inch blocks,
which isn't as simple as it sounds with an attached bookcase-style
headboard. DH cleverly figured out how to do it without having to drill
any more holes in the headboard.

Old & new, pt. 2

The old neighborhood, snow covered from the light snow we had overnight
Saturday, and then in the afternoon sun, which doesn't improve things
much, does it? Then we have the new house.....oh, did I mention we are
definite on getting the house? Yep, we're looking to move over there
June 1, but it might be earlier depending on how soon we can sell this
place. We stopped by the new house to shovel the walk if it needed it -
we want to keep it looking lived in. Last 2 pics are backyard, and the
shed out back. There is a garage too on the other side of the house,
but I wasn't traipsing about in the snow in sneakers after any more pics.

My old blue 15 year old Cavalier which went to junkyard a few weeks ago
after a shock mount decided to permanently part company from the rest of
the vehicle, and my new (used) Crown Vic, which is 10 years old but is
in excellent shape and drives like a dream. Although, having a V8 is
taking a little getting used to - have to be a bit careful on the
highway or the thing can get away from you!
