Hello and welcome to my moblog. Here are lots of random images from my life at home on the Isle of Lewis and out and about.

The photos are mostly taken with my iPhone 3GS, but I'll also be posting some from my Nikon D80.

You can see more of my photography at my website 58 North Photography.

The new house

(viewed 615 times)
Have at last moved into the new house - only a month later than planned! Been in a week now, but have no internet until 19 October and I had a mobile bill of over £100 last month, hence the lack of blogging recently. Will blog more soon.

Leaving without Loki

(viewed 729 times)
Today we packed up the house in Blackburn ready to move for good to Lewis tomorrow. Unfortunately we won't be taking Loki with us; just over a week ago she went missing and we haven't seen anything of her since. Although she was an independent cat and spent lots of time outside, she always came home at night, so we don't know what's happened to her and it makes me very sad. I'll miss her a lot.

Spent Sunday on the beach again, this time on the Isle of Harris. Couldn't resist taking a picture of the family building sandcastles with their big coats and wellies on. Very this summer.

The house sale is dragging out, so don't know when we'll have the house up here but have to move up on the 7th, so could be homeless from then until we complete! A bit of a nightmare really, but we'll get there eventually.

Evening stroll

It was sunny when I got home from work, so I decided to go for a stroll around the village. The stroll turned into a 3 mile, 1 hour walk, but I throughly enjoyed myself. It's the most exercise I've done in ages. Very nice.

Sunday wanderings

There is very little to do on Lewis on a Sunday (unless you want to go to church, which I don't), so I had a long drive and a wander around Ness. I'm very sleepy now, so I'm going to have something to eat, a shower and an early night before my first day at work tomorrow.

On my way to Lewis

(viewed 657 times)
Today is really the first day of my new life on the Isle of Lewis, my job starts on Monday so I'm moving up there today. I set off at 7 this morning and it's rained for most of the 420 miles I've driven, just waiting for the ferry now and should be at the B&B; that I'm staying in until the house is sorted for 9. It's been a long day.

I trapped my finger in the oven door and it took a big chunk out of it. I screamed. And cried. It hurts a lot.

Alton Towers

(viewed 5100 times)
Today we went to Alton Towers with Kieron, because soon we will live much to far away for impromptu visits. It was good fun and the sun was out, we all got a little bit burnt - forgot what the sun does, it's been that long since we've seen it. I didn't take many photos.
