Yesterday I found out that I was accepted into the WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association -
www.wpja.com), who are a very recognised body of wedding photojournalists / photographers, representing the more candid, artistic side of wedding photography.
Their entry criteria are very high (the WPJA are global and only represent around 50 photographers in England, despite the many who request to join), and photographers are judged by their online portfolios, so in the run up to christmas I spent a lot of time getting my website up to scratch. Being part of the WPJA has been a dream of mine since I decided to pursue wedding photography, not least of all because they represent the very highest standard of work in wedding photojournalism, and many of their members are - quite literally - world class photographers. I could only hope to be in such esteemed company!
After submitting my details a few days ago, I received a call yesterday evening to tell me I had been accepted. I wasn't expecting to hear from them so soon, but I was thrilled, and I'm still excited now!
My next goal is to win one of their quarterly competitions. The rewards & kudos are great, but the other photographers provide some very stiff competition. The standard is very high.
Anyway, i'm so over the moon, I just had to share :)
