I had several things to check out - first up was the iPod shuffle which seems to have attained a sort of mythic status in my brain. There were so many people crowded 'round the iPod demo tables! The shuffle is tiny - it was hard to tell how much it actually weighed because of the security cables stuck to it, but it's definitely barely there. The sound is great (the Shure headphones on the demo units really help) and I'm not at all phased by the lack of a display: I've not had much practice with a normal iPod but in many ways I prefer just letting the shuffle do its thing instead of hunting through menus. And the price is great. But, aside from spending four hours on a coach to London every now and then, I don't need a portable music whatsit right now.

In the door and the first thing I see is the staircase - wow. The place is huge, and crammed with people: it's 4:30 on Friday evening, and there are stacks of tourists and shoppers browsing and playing and buying.

Yesterday we had a course trip to Sadlers Wells Theatre in London, but we had a few hours spare. There was no way that I wasn't going to take a pilgrimage to The Apple Store.
We emerged from Oxford Circus tube and set off the wrong way along Regent St, but soon turned around when I spotted the domed building and banners. Our anticipation grew.

I think I posted one of these back in October, which then got wiped in
the crash. I'm hoping Becks 'n' Steve are still happily together,
otherwise this could be in bad taste...

Took this while I was up in Glasgow last December, but never got 'round
to posting it. I'm clearing out my phone for lots of lovely London pics
tomorrow.

Well, that seems to have gone alright. Everything still seems to be
here.
[ neel plugs in his Firewire drive. Crosses fingers... ]
Great. No 10.3.6-stylee problems! Yipee!

Sending email from my phone is becoming a right hassle: a cunning plan
is called for.
In other news, I'm about to upgrade OS X from 10.3.5 to 10.3.7 (since
10.3.8 has just been released, and I like to be only a little behind
the times). This may therefore be my last post from a fully-working,
non-firewire-drive-wiping computer!

Nat made us more pancakes! And just in time, too. This one has all I
ever need on a pancake: margerine, sugar, jam and tons of lemon juice.
