Presenting lighting, theatre and weather: formerly from the hills of Yorkshire, with bits and pieces of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and trips to Edinburgh; when the music stops, where will neel end up?

Munich 9: Opening Night

(viewed 718 times)
The great and the good of the world's lighting community. And some
students. The conference opened with wine and chat, much like the
manner in which it would continue.

Munich 8: Confer-ing

(viewed 860 times)
I turned up a wee bit early for registration - the the rather
magnificent Prinzregententheater of the Beyerische Theaterakademie. So
I went for a walk down the block: it was Saturday afternoon and
everywhere was closed. Found a really big park (full of trees). Got a
pic of a nice manhole cover (I later didn't really see much in the way
of manhole cover variation, but never mind).

Munich 7: Mini-Bar

(viewed 750 times)
Now, I'm really not the most seasoned traveller. So I get all the way
to Germany, muddle my way through the German-language public transport
system, finally get to the right hotel and then what impresses
me more than anything? I have a mini-bar. And my own fridge. Now
that's livin'.

Munich 6: Now That's An Airport

(viewed 664 times)
I was hoping that all my stereotypes of German cleanliness and
efficiency would be instantly shattered, but Munich Airport wasn't any
help there. Absolutely huge, silent and calm. And that was just
Terminal 2. The public transport into the centre was fast and orderly.

Munich 5: Final Call

Our plane: it didn't seem to be missing any bits, at least.

Munich 4: Heathrow

(viewed 604 times)
My first time at a bigger airport, and I was expecting something a
little grander. Ho hum.

Munich 3: Empty Platforms At Empty Stations

(viewed 787 times)
There's something creepy about a deserted Underground station, although
it actually annoyed me that I wasn't the only one there at 6am. I took
the shot of the sign on my way in the evening before, thinking "how
useful - I'll never need to know that." Then, on Saturday morning, I
walk down those 71 steps 'cos the escalators packed up. Or something.

Munich 2: Spooks

(viewed 1669 times)
This is Spooks, who's decided to stay with Pete and Lizzie dahn in Lahndan. He has the strangest shaped snout of any cat I've ever seen - much longer and snoutier.

We got back a little worse for booze, played Halo and ate pizza. Then I tried to get some sleep before getting up stupidly early to get to my stupidly early Heathrow flight.

Spooks slept on my feet.
