Presenting lighting, theatre and weather: formerly from the hills of Yorkshire, with bits and pieces of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and trips to Edinburgh; when the music stops, where will neel end up?

Utterly Unfair

(viewed 765 times)
When it comes to vending machines, I'm a very careful guy: the slightest slip-up on the keypad and there's no going back, so I always double-check what I'm typing in.

But this example, encountered in Wakefield bus station on my way home from t'pub, was just Not Fair. A Kit Kat Chunky (which I've been deprived of cos it's the end of term and they're not refilling the stock here) was code E10 - that's 'E', '1', '0', right?

Wrong! This keypad, very helpfully, has a '10' button instead of a '0' button, and in my ever-so-slightly befuddled state I very, very carefully typed 'E' then '1', then looked, fruitlessly, for the '0' button while the stupid machine vended me a Chocolate Bleedin' Orange bar.

Sunny, Sunny, Funny

(viewed 712 times)
Bright, yellow, low, strong. It sears into the late autumn leaves, glowing off the grass.
