\(^ ^ ) My name is Yuba. I'm a 23 year old teacher and freelance translator living in Tokyo, Japan. Sometimes I model. Sometimes I sleep. A lot of the time, I take photos of what I'm about to eat. Yum yum yum!

Perhaps these two things wouldn't go together for most people, but this seems to be a little ritual of mine.

The place where I get my nails done is just down the road from a little shrine I have been frequenting ever since New Year's Day this year. It was the shrine at which I made my first prayer of the year - an auspicious occasion in Japan, most people go to a shrine on New Year's morning - and so it's sort of a comforting ritual to keep going back. I feel a connection to it and I feel like it does me good.

So every time I go back to get my nails done, I pray at the shrine. This also happens to be down the road from my new work place, so I see myself going there a lot more regularly once my job starts...

Oh. And of course; I got my nails done. :D

Tokyo from the bay..

I'm sure enough people with eyes on Japan heard about the level-4 earthquake we had around the Tokyo area yesterday. Luckily for me, I was out on the water in Tokyo Bay at the time and didn't feel a thing!

I only took my cellphone with me, but once again it delivers. You might just be able to pick out Tokyo Tower in the first image. The bridge in the second is Rainbow Bridge, though I'm not sure why it's named that way since it's mostly green-ish.

No post like this would be complete without a stupid picture of me and my friends, though. :)

Two more..

Two more photos from my trip to see the gundam in Odaiba the other day. These two photos are from my DSLR rather than my cell phone, which you may be able to tell...

Let me just reiterate how much I wanted to take it home with me. If anyone can lend me a couple of cranes and a place to stash it, contact me!

You can't say I don't deliver...

I did it! I made it to see the gundam in Odaiba before they pull it down at the end of this month. It seems like such a waste to only have it up for month... I wonder why they can't just stick it in a park somewhere and keep it for good.

I took some photos with my DSLR as well as these ones - which are from my cellphone - but surprisingly enough I think these turned out better. Plus there's that bonus shot of me gawking in front of it like a geek. :D

We got there right as it was moving. Apparently it didn't move to begin with, and it doesn't move all the time, either. It's just the head, but the movement is flawless and beautiful! We stayed for maybe half an hour and it totally didn't move again, so I think we were lucky.

A rare one...

I've been shopping two days in a row, now. So tired! It probably shows - this was on the way back from the modeling agency. Sleeeeepy.....

I love Soup Stock <3 I'm very predictable, though, and always have this same set - 8 vegetable & chicken soup with sesame rice and oolong tea.

I've been promising people photos of this poster for ages - and I finally deliver! I haven't been to see the giant gundam in Odaiba yet, but I'm hoping to get to see it before they pull it down at the end of this month. These posters (this particular one from Takadanobaba station) are absolutely awesome, though. Great slogan. :D

August START!

Delicious-looking tuna sashimi, and both sides of the uchiwa I was given at Sugizo's fanclub-only event yesterday. I like it, and suddenly it's just the right weather for me to need it!!
