Quite enjoying the fact that we can now send really long sms, but at the same time not sure when well need to :) actually, its perfect for the short story Moblog that @jc has, microhappy. So instead of just reading short stories on your phone you can actually write short stories on your phone. You must please forgive the long and rambling nature of this text though, im actually testing just how many interlinked sms the handset will allow me to send, were on number 4 at the moment and ill stop at 8. In theory a concatenated sms may consist of up to 255 seperate sms messages that are concatenated in orderto create a single long sms message. Because of the nature of the sms, and the network the chance that these parts of the sms message arrive in order is slim and therefore a strategy is implemented in order for the original long message to be reconstructed. When the feature works properly it is nearly transparent to the user, appearing as a single long text message. Previously, due to incompatibilities between providers and lack of support in some phone models, there was not widespread use of this feature.

This is an SMS longer than 160 characters. In fact, this is concatenated SMS, allowing you to send loads and loads of SMS's to Moblog (and twitter if youset up the autoping) at once. That s the thing about sending SMS; so often you re at a bus stop or whatever and basically, there s no way you re going to be able to say all you want in one message, so you let fly and just let your fingers tap until you ve said what you need to. SMS s actually contain information like I am number 4 of 5 which then let the receiver software assemble the messages and assemble them in the right order.
