My stuff

It's always the little things that hold me back.
Things like not being able to find the blue-tack;
rushing to get to the door, and not being able to find a shoe;
getting so caught up in my emotions that I can no longer see the wood from the trees.
I can't do everything, that's true, but it's no excuse to stop trying.

Moblog is very slow. Wordpress is amazing.

Flight doodle/ attempt to ink in

(viewed 450 times)
I was trying to ink on the plane, but the person infront of me kept on fidgeting. Grrr.
So yeah, a very messy attempt (especially around the fingers), but I like drawing when I'm traveling, it teaches me (very slowly) to steady my hands more.

I really like flying at night, it feels quite magical to witness the city lights below.

Berlin

(viewed 436 times)
The city brief that we were given. Nothing amazing, but this is how I resolved it. Everything here is a collage of a free German newspaper that I picked up at a station. I cut it into pieces, collaged it together, went over some parts lightly with watered down colours, and, in the end, photoshopped it together with a map of Berlin that I found in the paper.

I did some experiments (which I might put up a wee bit later), but in the end, I decided not to give the woman a face, mainly to make her seem like anybody. How often do you take note of people that you don't know in a city? Everyone is busy, and everyone passes each other without expressing the least bit of intrest, and why should they? There are almost 7 billion other humans on the planet.

I like train journeys, particularly tube ones, where people are more likely to hop on and off more quickly (I could go on forever bullshitting more about why I like train journeys, but I'll spare you that). In particular, I felt more inspired (maybe I even coined the idea from) Miyazaki's Spirited Away, where Chihiro's on the train... None of the other passengers have faces, they're just busy bodies getting on and off the train.

The tube map idea was quite a random thought when I was sitting by myself, staring out of the window (as I do, I need my alone time) one night, and thinking about the things that instantly distinguish a city, apart from the obvious things, I mean culture wise, not just the way a city looks. It occured to me that the things that differ between capital cities might also be things that they have in common (if you're following). I don't mean to sound like I'm in any way experienced (I know that I am still incredibly young, and in many ways ignorant of the world around me), but I have been to quite a few major cities; London (used to live there), Paris, Newyork, Berlin (that's only 4...); all capital cities have an underground sytem, that is recognisable to anyone who has traveled on it, so I figured I might start there.

Flick book.

It's by no means great, but it took me quite a while to do, and the deadline's been reached now.

Morning yawn

(viewed 1273 times)
Call me strange, if you will, but I always find people's facial expressions slightly amusing when they yawn. I know that she's no 'person', but my cat is no exception to this. I suppose that I take advantage of her feline ignorance when I quickly snap this. If I tried to take pictures of a person yawning they'd most likely demand that the picture (assuming that I manage to take it) be deleted. I would too.

More inking practise.

(viewed 1315 times)
Again, a bit crummy, I know, but practise makes perfect!
I generally find cartridge paper harder to ink on.

Flickbook concept test thing

Just a concept test, only at 6fps.

A wolf in sheep's clothing

Ok, it's not great, but practise makes perfect (and I thought I'd blog it anyway, so that you can see how far I go).
I know this idiom is a tad over-done

So we went to Scarborough

To collect shells for a friend's project. I tried to practise some photography, but I'm a little rusty (bad pun).
