Airealism & What Goes Up present:

Film noir meets circus in a sky-high detective thriller: mysterious blondes, enigmatic clients, murder, mayhem and madness all collide in a quest for the truth. Gripping narrative woven into a spectacular visual feast for all ages.

NOIR is aerial physical theatre extraordinaire. A dramatic thriller, set in the 1940s taking 'film noir' as its motif, NOIR fuses the disciplines physical theatre and circus. Eleven aerialists take to the stage using cargo nets, trapeze, rope, silks and aerial hoop to tell the twisted tale of a detective desperately searching for the woman he loves in a vicious underworld fraught with danger.

After a sell-out run at the Albany, London 2007, NOIR went on to wow packed audiences at Glastonbury 2008. This version has been specially designed and adapted for the Gilded Balloon, Edinburgh Fringe.

[Airealism] 'unfeigned avant-gardism' Time Out

Airealism is proud to present
Tales of the Apocalypse

Gravity-defying aerial circus exploring imminent doom and destruction. Entropic visions, ghostly entities, imploding stars and radioactive dust - is this prophecy or fantasy?

Crazed astronauts battle it out for supremacy of the Earth; a survivor throws off his hazmat and contorts to radiation sickness; forgotten androids dance an endless duet... meanwhile a lone woman is pursued into the air by a shadowy figure that bears an eerie resemblance to Death himself. But all is not lost, as out of the debris a brave new world is forming.

Featuring amazing routines on trapeze, hoop, silks, rope and dance trapeze, Tales of the Apocalypse offers its audience a jaw-dropping adventure through various apocalyptic scenarios. Twisted, terrifying, stunningly beautiful and downright hilarious, this is circus cabaret as never seen before.

Tales of the Apocalypse was premiered over two weeks in the Shunt Lounge, London 2009, where it received critical acclaim and was Time Out's Critic's choice.

'a truly transporting experience, yoking together images of delicacy and power with breathtaking skill' Time Out

Airealism is an exciting new company specialising in performance circus arts. Starting life as a small community group, it rapidly developed into a fully-fledged troupe with contortionist actuaries, risk-addicted software specialists and balancing bankers all signing up to create a dynamic new breed of circus performer. In the past two years they have gone from strength to strength, performing in a sell-out run at the Albany theatre, wowing a packed-out big top at Glastonbury Festival, and showcasing two critically acclaimed cabaret shows at the cavernous Shunt Lounge under London Bridge. Airealism's own Ilumi, a spectacular quartet of glow-in-the-dark trapeze artists, recently performed for White Mischief at Scala club, and at Paradise Gardens Festival.

20th Sat June 2009 - Paradise Gardens

(viewed 525 times)
Check it - If you have nothing better to do this Sat night.

The festival is entirely free and is open between midday and 10.30pm on Saturday June 20 and Sunday June 21st. The White Mischief show will be at the "Parlure Spiegeltent" on Saturday June 20 from 6pm to 10.30pm.

Performers include your hosts Tough Love; Underbling and Vow; Red Sarah; MC Elemental; Prangsta and the CumCum YumYum Show; aerialists Ilumi presenting Balderdash; aerialist Jackie Le; aerialist Lydia Darling and many more.

Saturday 20th June 6pm - 10.30pm
Fresh from the success of their 'Journey to the centre of the earth' show, White Mischief present their own fantastic blend of cabaret and musical mayhem in a magical journey of delight through the world of 21st Century cabaret...

Dressing up is encouraged (though by no means compulsory) at White Mischief's parties, with guests invited to explore a neo-Victorian "steampunk" aesthetic, imagining themselves into the burnished copper and brass, steam-powered world predicted by Victorian visionaries such as Jules Verne and HG Wells instead of the plastic and silicon world we live in today. The Guardian has called White Mischief "the more prominent British exponents" of the up-and-coming steampunk movement, which is all about blending the old with the new. So expect to see pith-helmeted adventurers rapping to a hip hop beat or Industrial Revolution mad scientists interacting with the crowd via a laptop.

"More fun in one night than some venues can manage in a whole year" The Guardian.

White Mischief at Paradise Gardens, Sat June 20, 6.30pm

For the first time ever we're taking the White Mischief show on the road, with an appearance at legendary Isle of Wight festival Bestival coming on Saturday September 12.

Before that, though, we invite you to Paradise Gardens, an entirely free festival in Victoria Park, London E3. White Mischief will be taking over a beautiful vintage spiegeltent - festooned with mirrors and surrounded by beautiful wooden booths - and some of our favourite performers will surprise, shock and excite you with their neo-Victorian antics.

Live music, vaudeville, circus, aerial and walkabout from: your hosts Tough Love; hip hop steampunk MC Elemental; Red Sarah; Lydia Darling; Prangsta and the CumCum YumYum Show; Illumi present Balderdash; Jackie Le and more.
