My fellow (much more experienced) ibook / Mac users...Help again!!!

I really need to get hold of a full version of Photoshop and
want to learn everything about it. Whats the best way to do that?!!? Ã?Â£500
for a copy? Gadzooks!

Also...I got iLife '06 with it and when I went to upgrade it on my Mac... it states that its not compatible with my version of Mac OSX! Its something like 14.4.2 when it requires 14.4.3 or something silly like that?! What to doooo?
