"We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered." - Guildenstern, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead

Heavenly ice cream, but hellishly overpriced... *sigh*

The olympic stadium

(viewed 686 times)
Home of the Bayern Mnchen football club. They're getting a new stadium, though, the Allianz Arena. It's not quite finished yet.

On top of the world...

1) View over the olympic park

2) more of the olympic park

3) part of the stadium

4) the olympic village, the former athletes' quarters. They've been mostly turned into dorms.

Olympic tower

(viewed 737 times)
Total height: 289,53m

The observation decks are 174m to 192m above the ground. There is also a rotating restaurant up there.

The lift that takes people up there runs at about 8m/s. To me, that feels pretty
unpleasant, but then again, I don't like rollercoasters, either. :)

1) Let's get up there!

2) The tip, from the uppermost observation deck. This picture still makes me feel dizzy. I had to lean against something to keep me from tumbling while I was taking it.

Olympic centre

(viewed 806 times)
Next on my itinerary was the Olympic centre, which consists of the Olympic park, the Olympic tower, the Olympic stadium, the Olympic hall... Yeah, you get it. It's very green and really pretty.

1) The tower. Yes, it's possible to go almost up to the top. Hold on just a minute.

2) The stadium. If you look reaaaaally closely, you can see Kylie Minogue doing her
soundcheck. Well, not really... But she did play there tonight!
