I wake up, about 3:30am and wander in to the living room.
There's an MFT error (you have no idea how tired I am of seeing these) on my EXTERNAL drive. let me mention that that's where all my music and photos are.
Ok. I do not panic. I shut down, clean the additional cat's worth of hair out of the inside of my computer(AGAIN) and restart things.
Funny... It says it's found new hardware. My webcam. Why does it need to install that again? I don't know. I let it install the driver. Fine.
It then wants to install something else. Random character hardware. That's weird.
I pick up the external. Strange. Seems awfully cool. Hm. Is it not spinning?
Uh oh.
I unplug and replug it in (as my system isn't seeing it to begin with)
No friendly blue cylon light. nothing. Dead. No power.
Check the interwebs with mixed results. Do not know if it's the power supply- the only person I know with a voltmeter is Mike. Chances of my calling him? Less than zero percent(not up for debate.). Western Dig is out of this particular supply(of course).
Try to find another one that fits. Found one that fits, but it's not the same thing. The output on the HD one is 12V/2A. The one I have is 19V/3.16A. Try it anyway, with no result. No friendly blue cylon light. No power. Dead drive.
Cannot pop the case without destroying the case. The intertubes tell me that it is possible to install it as an internal SATA drive. However, if I felt comfortable tackling *that* I would have installed the 500GB internal drive, brand new, that is currently SITTING ON TOP OF MY COMPUTER which was SUPPOSED to be the BACKUP for the drive that NOW isn't working.
I'm supposed to spin three sets today and I'm trying hard not to get VERY upset.
My beloved do you know
How many times I stared at clouds
Thinking that I saw you there
These are feelings that do not pass so easily
I can't forget what we claimed as ours
VNV Nation: Beloved
and even if it did, I sure don't have one.
