still life

(viewed 1490 times)
OK,so I am writing my PhD thesis at the moment, so I don't get much opportunity to get out and about and take photos of stuff. However I have spent much of the last three years taking photos of stuff instead of doing my work. These are randomly scattered all over the place, mostly digital but some prints too. So I have decided to approach sorting them out by blogging them here in my bored-and-can't-face-writing-thesis moments. Some nice still lifes (lives?) to start with. Actually, do flowers count as still life? They are life, and still, so I'm going to say yes!

more pictures from the past

This time from summer 2000 (same film as before though). 1. the back garden in city road. Norm and I lived there over the summer before we moved into Clarence road. There were at least 10 of us living there, most of us broke. Tullis had just moved to Norwich. Many hours spent in the garden, many more hours playing alpha centaurai and kinkping [edit - Kingpin (honest)!] with Andy. The second two would in fact be from before then - when I lived at muriel road with Charlie. We all went for a game of cricket in Eaton park. 2. Norm, Joukou and the leg of someone else... anyone recognise it? I reckon it might be Oz. 3. Was peter really that skinny? Poor starving student.

Found in the wilds of Norfolk whilst exploring by bike. Saw a stoat and a weasel and lots of other things more interesting than this sign, but they were moving too quickly to photograph.

Kett's heights

(viewed 2023 times)
I recently had an old side film developed that had been sitting on my shelf for years. It was full of gems from the old City Road / Clarence Road days. I bought a cute little Ilford slide projector from ebay, and have just used it to project these slides onto a piece of A4 paper on the back of my door, then photographed the projections with my digital camera. It worked surprisingly well. These shots are from Kett's heights, around this time of year (april / May) in 2001. We used to go up there to watch the sunset and have a smoke after work. 'Noon and myself were the main protagonists, but we usually managed to bring Tullis Mat and Norm along. Neil and Peter too on this occasion by the looks of things. Pint in the Coach and Horses or that other pub at the bottom of the hill afterwards no doubt! Not quite sure why so many of these have the noonster in. But doen't everyone look so very young? More highlights of the slides later, when I can stop the projector fan from making horrible scraping noises.
