in the dark

(viewed 655 times)
The sun goes down too early this time of year. The darkness makes of want to sleep, yet I have hours of things to do before I will get the chance.

Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort

(viewed 651 times)
It is the beginning of the end for the 2006-07 golf season. No more days over 70 degrees are predicted for this year. Still, there won't be enough snow to ski for about two months. This is what is called downtime. Many employees in the local tourism industry will find themselves bored at work with no customers. Some may find that they not scheduled to work as many hours as usual, or they may be out of work entirely for a while. I just find myself wishing for snow.

Good Morning, Sun!

(viewed 1405 times)
I'm waiting for someone to unlock the building so I can get in to work. The sun has not yet begun to overpower the cold north wind.

Sunset over Biwabik

(viewed 740 times)
The view from the Highway 4 bridge over the railroad track south of
Biwabik at sunset this evening was much more spectacular than a cell
phone image can capture, but maybe you can get an idea from this shot.

Look Around the Hibbing Disc Golf Course

(viewed 2137 times)
It was a nice day after a few days of dreary gray skies and drizzling
rain. After the last basket anchors were set in concrete, a few of us
set out to play the course. A bit of gusty wind proved an added
challenge, but all in all a good round of disc golf was had. On a
mostly clear and sunny day like today, many interesting odds and ends,
various aspects nature, and vistas present themselves. This is by no means a complete list, and many (most) interesting
sights have been omitted due to the impulse to enjoy them without the
encumbering interference of lens and digital screen.

1) I`m not sure what the first thing is, maybe an insulated bracket
for high voltage wires...?
2) Some sort of barrel tossed aside long before the trees took this land back?
3) The view over my shoulder of the old Scranton Mine.
