First stop Kemble!

(viewed 1350 times)
Morning!

Just a heads-up to let everyone know where I’m heading today. First stop is Kemble Airport in Gloucestershire at 12pm (I can’t believe I’m going to be meeting Princess Anne – hope I don’t embarrass myself in front of everyone!) and then it’s on to Devon for an appearance at Exeter Racecourse at 1.25pm.

I’ll let you know how I got on later!

Stage Fright

(viewed 2145 times)
Here I am ready to set off in London. It doesn't look too glamorous but you need to start somewhere!

I'm already attracting a fair bit of attention (I do sort of stand out)so really must overcome my nerves and remind myself that it's all for a good cause. It's going to make me red-faced alright (er...), but I wouldn't rather be doing anything else! In fact, I'm packed up and ready to go - first stop tomorrow is Gloucestershire. I'm going to be meeting HRH Princess Anne! Must start practising my bow...

Remember to come say hello if you see me - and post your snaps directly to the moblog!

Nottinghamshire Launch

(viewed 1381 times)
Hello again,

I thought I’d mention that today is the launch of the Poppy Appeal in Nottinghamshire. So if you’re close to the County Hall in Nottingham you’ll be able to go see Eric Howe selling the very first poppy to the County Council Chairman.

Eric was born on Armistice Day, in 1918 (he’ll be 90 on November 11th – what a date!) and he tells me that he was only 20 when he served in the 5th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment during the Second World War. He even spent an awful four years in a German POW camp.

Eric’s going to be joined by Private David Poole - he served in Afghanistan with the Territorial Army and was injured in a roadside bomb attack.

I guess it’s a bit of a reminder that conflict is just as relevant now as it was during the first and second world wars…

Come along and show some support! :)

It's that time again!

(viewed 1227 times)
Hello all,

Welcome to my new Moblog!

You may have followed my travels online last year as I spread the word about the Poppy Appeal in London. Well, I've got the touring bug and soon I'll be hitting the rest of the UK so that I can meet the hundreds of people whose lives have been touched by conflict past and present, and the work of The Royal British Legion. I'll also be meeting a few well known faces along the way...Fingers crossed! ;)

It's going to be quite a journey. I've already got lots of dates in the diary and I'm going to be blogging all my experiences right here. If you see me out and about come and say hello, and you can also send in all your fantastic content once we've spent time together!

In fact, all you need to do to get involved is text your pictures or videos to 07786 201 241 and insert 'POPM' at the start of the message. Your post will appear almost instantly on this Moblog.

You can also visit my Facebook page - Don't worry, I won't turn you down if you ask to be my friend!

Can't wait to meet you,
