The dingo story

(viewed 1415 times)
This is what happened about three years ago.

Me and a Terry (aboriginal liaison officer) went to visit Punmu
aboriginal community to undertake some training. The trip to Punmu is
only 8 hours, but since we needed to buy some groceries we had a delayed
start and left at lunch time on Monday. At about 5 o'clock, we took a
small detour to an abandoned mine by the creek and made camp there. It
was a full moon night and about 9pm we settled down for the night in our
swags. About 2am in the morning, I felt this tugging on my pillow, but
since I was in the land on nod, I didn't realise what was going on for
about another 15 seconds. Once my eyes had focused, I saw the dingo
standing about 1 metre away. I woke Terry up, who had his swag 10
metres away and said "Terry, there's a dingo standing next to me". He
said "go back to sleep, your dreaming". I said "No, there really is a
dingo next to me". Terry woke up and said "don't worry I'll get stone
and throw it at him". I said "Are you sure you can hit him and not me".
Terry said, "I've been chucking stones before I could walk" and then
threw it. The stone went wizzing past my head and missed the dingo
pretty easily. The dingo was not impressed and started to growl. Not
to be deterred, Terry took another shot and this one was a lot closer.
The dingo went scampering away. I was starting to feel sorry for the
dingo, but that lasted until the morning when I found that one of my
boots went missing.
