Once upon a time, a girl named Silar had a DailyMe project. She failed at that project, and it languished in unupdated hell for a long time. Then she got involved in Second life and used that moblog to post snapshots from there. THE END. My main moblog

Soon to be gone! 16Jan2008

Photo from dentist yesterday. I did just what I said I would - gave
my limits, told them what I wanted. They did many x-rays and we came
to the group decision that I am going to get a full top plate denture
- they are going to pull all the tops, 2 of the bottoms, and I had to
make a solemn vow to take better care of my bottom teeth.

Now to figure out the finances - given how many teeth I'm losing (15)
and my medical status with the asthma and all, medical insurance may
pay for the entire extraction since the oral surgeon may want to do
it up to the hospital with me under general anaesthesia. I know I'd
certainly prefer that. I meet with him on the 31st of this month.

By the way, while I will probably post other teeth shots here and
there, I promise no squicky gum shots. :)

Maloccluded. Broken. Soon gone.

On Wednesday this week I have my first dental appointment in far, far too long. My front teeth are badly FUBAR - they've always been an orthodontist's nightmare (or wet dream, financially) and in fact I did have braces when I was a teenager. But that doc flew south with the ducks in winter, and they were just as crooked after 2 years as they started. And I came out of it with a severe anxiety problem about having people sticking things in my mouth.

So, what I'm hoping for is that the new dentist is going to take a look, I'm going to inform her clearly and in no uncertain terms that I don't DO root canals, crowns, or all that jazz, and braces are not an option, and she'll be willing to yank the broken front and back teeth and the other front ones that are in places they aren't supposed to be, and give me straight dentures. I know they can't get rid of the overbite that way, but at this point, if I didn't have it, I would probably have to relearn how to talk/eat/whistle/etc anyway.

Day off = glasses and fave purple hoodie.

Scarab pin (live)

(viewed 1421 times)
So, went out with the other staff today for my first ever sushi, and got indoctrinated into S³. This is the Sacred Scarab Society, and is an elaborate and hilarious inside joke among the church staff. Just keep in mind that the scarab is aka the dung beetle and you'll have a good idea of the joke. :)

As for the sushi - meh. I'm willing to accept that perhaps this particular restaurant was having an off day but to me, it varied between tasteless and yuck. Generally all I could taste was the seaweed, and I didn't much care for it. Also, most of it was too large for me to comfortably put in my mouth and chew and I gagged a few times, which is a sure way to ruin a meal for me. I'm willing to have another go at it some other time.

New shades. New dailyme.

I'm been waiting for a while to get this rolling, and it's time. I figure it's a good way to get me blogging more, and track some changes I want to track.

As for the shades, they are my new swank expensive polarized shades that I got with a combination of a coupon and a post-holiday sale for nearly 50% off. A large part of my morning commute involves driving right into the sun so it was worth spending the money for good sunglasses.
