in Highfields. Takes time &
dedication. Here we are putting
together some SMART outcomes
for the application.

Working with a group of young people to put a bid to
Myplace a new government programme to create world
class youth facilities. Big shout out to Prakash, Puja
Durgha, Chantal (sorry about da pic but your t-shirt
was just too funky) Jem and Mohammed who came in late.

This was originally emailed to me by a mate and I have now found out that this was from taken from stateside Farmlabs public art show "Garden of Brokenness" last year. Not sure where the quote is from but it is seriously heavy.

Last week we hosted a group of young Palestinian
young people from the Lajee Centre in Bethlehem.
Many of them live in the Aida Refugee camp in that
area.

On the first night the group did a presentation on life
in the camp & their lives under Israeli occupation
and performed a 'Dabka' dance to members of the
public. Over the years Dabka has become a tool of
Palestinian resistance. They stayed with host families
in Leicester and the following day they did a schools
performance, had an activity session in the sports hall
and met with the Active Youth group from Highfields
later on.

We are now planning to take a group to the camp
next year on a residential experience.

Duppy Conquerors did an amazing set and big
respect to the guys on the night. Shame there
weren't more people later to enjoy the vibe.

Poetry/Creative writing workshop with Lennox
Carty produced some top stuff and we are lookin'
forward to Lennox being our writer in residence
towards the end of the year. Shahid Ahmed, the
actor did a brilliant Q & A session.
