This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

Life Captured - update

The week before the Mayor's Thames festival was a bit of a disaster. My laptop had died a few days before, my prime lens's motor stopped working and my new phone kept on freezing. Deadlines were flying towards me and I had no productive way of meeting them. To make it all more challenging I was covering the Mayors Thames Festival for five different publications and had promised a friend that I'd talk her through dance photography during the weekend as well.

Then, that Thursday the Life Captured guys called. Mike Figgis needed more images to make his film. They couldn't promise I'd make those invited to the premier but wanted 20 images. They were needed by Monday. Only new images, taken to the brief during that time would do.

I already had no time - and no way of looking at or processing the images - but resolved to do my best and relied on the hospitality of my next-door neighbour and parents for a last minute photo review.

Life Captured - update #2

I had no time to think things through and I really wasn't happy with them but I sent them off and assumed that Craig (the other UK winner, whose photos are fantastic and with whom I'd like to work) would qualify and that I would not.

I was called yesterday. I'm off to the Red Carpet on Thursday with the top three other Country Winners to see what has been done with my images and Craig won't be there!

(edit) I also lost my entries.. had to email the competition people and ask them to send me back what I had sent them...
