This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

"Never to get lost is not to live, not to know how to get lost brings you to destruction, and somewhere in the terra incognita in between lies a life of discovery."
........ Rebecca Solnit

"Give, give, give -- what is the point of having experience, knowledge or talent if I don't give it away? Of having stories if I don't tell them to others? Of having wealth if I don't share it? I don't intend to be cremated with any of it! It is in giving that I connect with others, with the world and with the divine."

........ James Cook

"The grand show is enternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapour is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."
........ John Muir

"The bicycle is the most civilised conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart."
........ Iris Murdoch

"Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your picture...."

that's most of the last of it

had to cut it off because it was coming out so much, but it still feels like self mutilation

Guess where I've been

I've been struggling since Viv contacted me last week

Struggling to find an image and the words

Anything - including this - seems to trivialise the immensity of your generousity

I have no idea who is involved apart from Viv who seems to be organising and number crunching, Geodyne who I've been told is acting as Treasurer and Sprocket who has done so much already.

Ross took this shot while working with me on the last assignment before chemo. I decided to go with it because if we waited until I was happy that one of my images reflected my feelings we could be here all year.

Thank you

first week

Didn't feel too well so asked a friend to drive me to the hospital for a consultation with the reconstructive surgeon.

We got lost on the way back. Probably didn't help that I had my eyes shut...

We had to call 540Air to find out how to get back

Finnish Tango at Guildhall Yard

OK, it wasn't sensible and I've been told to expect today and tomorrow to be my worst days (although others say the worst days are around day 10 of each regime) but I did a commission for Dance Today this afternoon.

It was terrifying because my immune system is low. Public transport, groups of people, bird flu, insects (I got bitten on the dodgy arm) and it made me realise that I absolutely shouldn't travel on planes or go to airports.

But it was also incredibly energising. I loved the work (as ever), I loved dancing (even though it probably wasn't sensible), it was great to mix with new people and it was great to catch up with the few tangueros I already knew.
